Wisconsin’s Governor Tony Evers outlined his budget priorities for the next biennium Tuesday night, but there was little in the speech about agriculture that farmers and processors did not already know.

Evers proposed a 30-million-dollar floodproofing initiative for at-risk properties and infrastructure. He says, “This will also help our municipalities address at-risk properties and infrastructure with programs that help build adaptable roads and infrastructure, restore wetlands to prevent catastrophic flooding, and support farmers and families and small business owners when they lose their crops or their properties are damaged.”

Evers also repeated his support for small and family farms, which he credits for protecting land and water.
