The USDA says Arkansas was a little colder and drier than normal for most of February.

That changed for most of the state in the third week of the month following a drop in temperature and heavy snowfall which resulted in high mortality rates for newborn calves and some cattle, halted field work and delayed fertilizer application.

For the month, the state averaged less than three inches of precipitation and had an average temperature of 32 degrees.
