A dairy market analyst says Winter Storm Uri is expected to drag on milk production in the South and beyond through April.
“The storm was definitely significant enough that it should have an impact on national milk production.”
Sarina Sharp with the Daily Dairy Report tells Brownfield some southern states had very strict milk production limits last spring because of too much milk in the system and processing disruptions during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Herd losses and added cow stress from Uri she says should alleviate potential backlogs this year as the region starts their spring milk flush.
