The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture voted on policy during its Winter Policy Conference.
President Ryan Quarles says action items and policy amendments included increasing capacity of meat processors.
“We know USDA will likely be taking some suggestions about how to move forward to support meat processors and I think there is some financial support as well, so in that example we would like for suggestions from our members to be forwarded to USDA for their consideration,” he says.
