The state plans to launch a new website tomorrow (Friday) that promises to be a clearinghouse for information on COVID-19 vaccines. Governor Kim Reynolds says vaccinate.iowa.gov will be a reliable source of vaccine information specific to our state so people will know when they’re eligible and how to get the shot.
The site will also contain a vaccine locator to find providers near you. The governor says the state’s making significant progress in getting people vaccinated, with nearly 622-thousand doses administered so far. Next week, Reynolds says it’s expected that 70-percent of the Tier One populations in Iowa will have gotten at least one dose, which includes first responders, K-12 teachers and child care workers. She says the state’s planning ahead for the next group.
The governor says doses of the third vaccine, made by Johnson and Johnson, will begin arriving in Iowa next week, with an initial shipment of 25-thousand doses. It will require only a single vaccination with no booster, as the other two companies’ shots require.
