A farmer in the southwest corner of Iowa says he’s still worried about drought even though there was plenty of snow this winter.
Carl Jardon of Randolph tells Brownfield soils in his area need to be recharged.
“We had what we’d consider a lot of snow, but of course it melts down to not a lot of moisture. And that’s melting away fast, and unless we get some timely rains this summer it’s going to be dry.”
The corn and soybean grower will be planting some drought-tolerant hybrids and varieties and says he’s trying to stay optimistic.
