The US Meat Export Federation says reducing trade barriers for US red meat around the world will be key to growing exports for beef and pork. Cheyenne McEndaffer, director of export services and access with USMEF says Ecuador’s growing tourism sector and its use of the US dollar make it a promising market.
But some trade barriers have limited trade opportunities with the country. “High import surcharges combined with non-preferential tariffs due to no FTA have hampered US red meat exports for years,” she says.
