Another quiet start for direct cash cattle trade activity. Bids have started to surface at $178 dressed in the North. Asking prices are around $116 to $117 live in the South, while the North is quiet. Showlists this week are mixed and it’s likely significant trade volume will be delayed until at least midweek or later.
Boxed beef is higher at midday on good demand for light offerings. Choice is $1.76 higher at $226.53 and Select is $.73 higher at $218.78. The Choice/Select spread is $7.75.
