A field crops educator says now is the time to inspect planting equipment as farmers wait for ideal field conditions.

Paul Gross with Michigan State University says calibrating equipment is essential for maintaining uniformity and high yields.

“Make sure everything is level, look at your coulters, look at your chains, check your gage wheels—look for wear,” he shares.

He says current weather outlooks appear like planting is likely to start early.
