Investors have unveiled plans for a new meat processing facility in western Nebraska that is expected to generate one billion dollars of economic impact annually.
Sustainable Beef LLC CEO David Briggs tells Brownfield the facility in North Platte is set up as a cooperative and will allow cattle producers who have their beef slaughtered to also receive profits from the sale. “It provides vertical integration for the beef industry. This is an opportunity for them to have some say in ownership in the processing side of that and get returns from the profit of that,” he says.
