U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley is reintroducing legislation that he says would bring more transparency to cattle markets.

The Iowa Republican made the announcement during his weekly call with ag reporters Tuesday morning.

“Tomorrow I will be reintroducing my bill from last Congress with Senator (Jon) Tester (of Montana) mandating 50 percent of negotiated cash trade for the cattle.”

He says the spot market protection bill would increase producer leverage against meat processors, improve price discovery, and better situate independent cattlemen and women for the fed cattle market.
