An official with Land O’Lakes says the cooperative’s latest sustainability efforts promote the evolution of practices aimed at helping its 1,600 member-dairy farms lower their carbon footprint.

Senior VP of member and government relations Pete Kappelman tells Brownfield Land O’Lakes will be collecting more than 250 data points from each farm.

“And we’re looking at things that will be actionable that can improve both environmental sustainability for our products and our farms, as well as economic sustainability.”

He says member dairies will be able to take advantage by sequestering and reducing carbon.
