Michigan Milk Producers Association’s dairy farmer members are working to find sustainability solutions that work for farms of all sizes.

Chairman and Remus dairy farmer Doug Chapintells Brownfield their Farmer Sustainability Advisory Committee started last year to bring farmers and customers to the table.

“The co-op is involved in a cover crop program this year in association with a customer,” he says.  “We’re studying how dairy farmers can use them, where they benefit them, where they don’t.”

He says with farmer members located from the Upper Peninsula into Central Indiana, cover crop management varies, and the committee can be a sounding board for challenges that come up.
