Agricultural research funding has remained stagnant over the past decade and farm groups want that to change in the next farm bill.

Scott Bennett with the American Farm Bureau Federation tells Brownfield public agriculture research has stayed near four billion dollars from 2010 to 2020 whereas competing counties including China, Brazil, and India have accelerated their investments.

“We see it as much of a national security issue as it is one of food security issue,” he says.
