A warm, wet March boosted soil moisture levels in Missouri.
The USDA says temperatures statewide were about five degrees warmer than usual, while precipitation was more than 2.7 inches heavier than normal, and while most of the state has adequate soil moisture, about a quarter of topsoil and 10% of subsoil have surplus levels.
61% of winter wheat is in good to excellent condition, up 7% on the month.
The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume Monday.
