A central Illinois farmer who started planting on Saturday is pleased to be ahead of schedule.
Evan Marr farms 4,000 acres of corn and soybeans near Jacksonville.
“Things are actually looking really good, especially when you compare it to last year and what we dealt with over amounts of moisture and things like that. We’ve really got some outstanding conditions to go in, if anything it’s maybe just a hair bit dry.”
He says they started one planter off with corn on Saturday and had another start soybean planting on Monday- a logistical strategy that has proven beneficial for them the past few years.
