South Dakota is experiencing drought conditions heading into planting season.

The USDA says 32 percent of topsoil moisture is adequate with 27 percent of subsoil moisture rated adequate.

Winter wheat is rated 27 percent good.

Spring wheat plating reached 11 percent, seven percent ahead of the five-year average.

Oats planted are double the average at six percent.
