One of the many facets of organic corn production is preventing cross pollination with conventional crops.
Carolyn Olson, an organic grain and livestock farmer in west-central Minnesota, says she’s checking with the neighbors as she considers when to start planting.
“So we can time our corn planting so hopefully the pollination windows will be different. That is one layer of protection for cross pollination that we can take.”
She tells Brownfield they’ve been blessed with good relationships built over time.
