A southwestern Illinois farmer says so far, winter wheat is looking above average in his area.
“There’s potential out there yet. We are hoping to be bumping that triple digit yield. If it can happen, we’ve got the set up for it.”
But, Dean Campbell of Coulterville tells Brownfield, “We’ve got a lot of water to go under the bridge before the combine will be running and we can gather up that kind of yield.”
He says there was a concerning cold snap a few weeks ago, but he has noticed little to no damage from it.
