Farmers in Tennessee were able to make great progress despite the previous weeks’ conditions. Both corn and soybean planting is underway, with 11 percent of the corn crop planted.
Fall-planted wheat is rated 73 percent good to excellent with 66 percent of the crop jointed and 4 percent headed. Pastures are rated 53 percent good to excellent. Fifty percent of the apple crop is in full bloom with some fruit growers reporting some damage due to recent frosts. Seventy-four percent of strawberries are rated good to excellent.
