A week of slow-moving light rain helped Wisconsin’s soil conditions. USDA reporters say rainfall for the week totaled less than two inches but brought topsoil moisture up to 66% adequate and 16% surplus. Subsoil moisture is 71% adequate and 13% surplus.
USDA says about 20% of spring tillage is finished, which is about 13 days ahead of average.
Farmers concentrated on tillage, manure application, and some oats seeding which is now 19% complete.
