A Southwest Nebraska farmer says he’s patiently waiting to begin planting.

Andy Jobman grows white and yellow corn and soybeans near Gothenburg. “Nothing is planted out here yet,” he said. “We won’t plant anything until conditions are right and soil temperature is right. The forecast needs to be warm and dry and that looks like next week some time.”

He tells Brownfield he usually starts on April 25th. “If the weather cooperates, it might be earlier than that like the 20th, but mother nature has the ultimate trump card on that.”

Jobman says they’re finishing fieldwork ahead of planting.
