A system currently crossing the Great Plains will drift southeastward, reaching the Gulf Coast late in the week. Snow will blanket the central Rockies and adjacent High Plains, including eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska, while storm-total rainfall could reach 1 to 3 inches or more in the Gulf Coast region. Precipitation (rain and wet snow) will dampen the central and southern Plains into Friday. In contrast, little or no precipitation will fall the next 5 days across much of the Midwest and Far West.
