An east Tennessee farmer says it’s been a tough year for his cattle operation.
Don Holbert of Dandridge says they’ve had to take a hard look at the economics of it. “The God’s honest answer for us is I don’t think we made a dime last year on cattle,” he says. “If you take the equipment, the time, and the feeding time in the winter, I don’t feel we made a dime and I wonder why we do it.”
He tells Brownfield they were able to make some adjustments over the winter months that will make things a little easier this year.
