Farmers in the Upper Midwest hope the latest blast of winter-like conditions was a last hurrah for this spring.
Tim Waibel of Courtland in south-central Minnesota began planting corn Thursday knowing that below freezing temperatures and snow were in the forecast over the weekend.
“I know it’s cold now, but hopefully we get some warmer weather coming up (and) it sounds like it should be.”
Conditions in the region are expected to improve this week with temps in the 60’s and 70’s.
