A northeast Missouri farmer says the timeline for planting season has changed in the last decade.
Wes Shoemyer tells Brownfield farmers now have several safety nets during planting.
“It used to be that you didn’t have federal crop [insurance] and you didn’t have 100 percent replant,” he said. “There was quite a bit of exposure to you as a farmer and so you waited for that more ideal timeframe.”
And he said seed technology, especially within soybeans, has come a long way in the last five years.
