The USDA says producers made and paid more in March than in February.
The monthly index of prices received gained 2.6%, with the crop index up 1.2% and the livestock index 4.1% higher, with price increases for soybeans, hogs, market eggs, and lettuce cancelling out decreases in cotton, oranges, strawberries, and celery.
The dairy index for March 2021 was 1.8% higher than in February, but 2.8% lower than March 2020. The all-milk price of $17.40 per hundredweight was up $.30 on the month, but down $.50 on the year.
