Southeast Wisconsin farmer Jonathan Gibbs says conditions have been favorable for spring fieldwork and planting.
“We’re planting soybeans right now- we’ve put in some spring barley to grow up for cover crop seed, and we’re knocking on the door of corn planting,” he says. “This weekend or early next week we’ll start into corn planting full force.”
But, he says lack of soil moisture is a concern.
“We’re starting to realize a lot of dry ground,” he says.
