Rains fell on some parched Midwestern soils overnight.
North Iowa farmer Josh Nelson tells Brownfield they received more than an inch.
“In our area we are desperate for any bit of moisture we can get, (and) it didn’t hurt the corn planting progress at all. I think the majority of (farmers) in our area, if they had anything left to plant, they were probably able to get it in the ground (before the rain).”
He says in some cases, there’s been seed sitting in dry soils for a week or more.
