An agronomist says he has done some planting but is glad he held off until this week for most of it. Wayne Solinski with Jay-Mar in Plover, Wisconsin says, “A lot of people want to go because the soil conditions are good, but the temperatures aren’t the best yet.”
Solinski tells Brownfield the first 24-36 hours after planting corn are the most critical because that’s when the seed takes on moisture, germinates, and breaks dormancy, so he’s been watching his small test planting of corn from two weeks ago very closely.
