US Representative from Illinois Cheri Bustos continues to advocate for biofuels and the positive role they play in climate change mitigation.
During a House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee hearing last week, Bustos asked Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm how the Biden administration will include biofuels in their plans for net-zero emissions and Granholm says they have a biofuels and bioenergy team working on this.
“Electric vehicles obviously have emerged as this great technology, which they are for light duty vehicles like cars, but pickups and heavy-duty transportation that really need more of an energy density of liquid fuels – that is where biofuels are going to play a critical role.”
Bustos reiterated how biofuels play an integral role in rural economies.
