A mostly dry week allowed planting to progress, but cooler conditions slowed crop development in Indiana last week.

According to the latest USDA crop progress and condition report, corn and soybean planting remains ahead of the five-year average.  

Sixty-two percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, compared to the five-year average of 54 percent. Thirty-four percent of the crop has emerged.

Fifty percent of soybeans in Indiana are planted, compared to the five-year average of 33 percent.
