Near ideal conditions across Nebraska last week put corn and soybean planting ahead of schedule.
The USDA weekly crop progress report says 86 percent of the crop is in, only two percent behind last year, compared to the five-year average of 77 percent. Thirty-four percent of the crop has emerged.
Seventy-one percent of the soybeans are planted, slightly behind last year but well ahead of the five-year average of 46 percent.
