An ongoing heavy-rain event across the south-central U.S. will maintain the threat of significant flooding, particularly in the western half of the Gulf Coast region. Additional rainfall in coastal sections of Texas and Louisiana could reach 2 to 6 inches or more. Meanwhile, locally heavy showers will gradually end across the southeastern Plains and the mid-South. Farther north, occasional showers and thunderstorms will deliver much-needed precipitation across the drought-affected northern Plains.
