A southwestern Illinois farmer says compared to the last decade, they have had the best start to planting in 2020 and 2021.

“But unlike last year, we were able to plant in May this year. Last year, we didn’t get a single seed in the ground the month of May due to wet weather, but this year we were able to keep rolling.”

Nick Harre tells Brownfield all their corn is planted aside from a few fields where they took first cutting alfalfa off on the older stands, and all of their full season beans are in the ground.
