Minnesota farmers took advantage of nearly five days suitable for fieldwork last week.

The USDA says activities included hay cutting, small grain and row crop planting, as well as spraying.

With corn planting essentially wrapped up, emergence advanced to 77 percent.  That’s the same as last year but more than a week ahead of the five-year average.

Soybean planting is at 97 percent with emergence at nearly 50 percent.  The planting pace is 11 days ahead of a year ago and three weeks ahead of normal.
