President Biden’s budget proposal makes broadband, nutrition funding, and climate key areas at the U.S. Department of Agriculture which would get nearly nine percent increase in funding for the 2022 fiscal year.

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack says the proposal brings together the American Jobs and American Families Plans to address critical challenges for the country.

Included in the proposal is $700 million earmarked for the Reconnect Program to for high-speed internet in rural areas, up 10 percent from the prior year, $6.7 billion for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Woman, Infants, and Children, almost $1.5 billion for climate smart and clean energy projects, along with $4 billion for ag research, education, and outreach.
