A slow-moving storm system drifting eastward across the nation’s mid-section will reach the Atlantic Seaboard late in the week. Five-day rainfall associated with the storm could reach 1 to 3 inches or more from the mid-South, mid-Atlantic, and Ohio Valley southward to the Gulf Coast. Locally heavy rain may linger for much of the week across southern Texas, leading to local totals exceeding 5 inches and possible flooding. In contrast, little or no rain will fall for the remainder of the week west of the Rockies and across the northern Plains and upper Midwest.
