A west-central Missouri farmer says he’s back in the field after being rained out for about a month.

Daniel Carpenter tells Brownfield the constant rain has farmers in his area concerned about soil health.

“With quite a bit of rainfall has a lot of guys concerned, frankly, on the availability of nitrogen and how much the rainfall affected our nitrogen supply in the soil,” he said. “A lot of guys right now are considering a top dress application of nitrogen.”

He said he dealt with similar conditions last year.
