A northwest Missouri farmer says his concerns of dryness are growing. Richard Oswald tells Brownfield he was hoping for more than the half inch of rain he received over the weekend, but an early look at his corn and soybean stands are comparable to last year.
“Last year, we had what I think are probably the best overall average yields that I’ve ever had,” he said. “All the corn averaged above 200 [bushels] all the beans averaged above 50 [bushels] with most of the fields going above 60.”
The Atchison country farmer said it’s been an especially good spring for soybeans with mostly cool and dry weather…
“I want rain, but I don’t,” he said.
