Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures across much of the eastern half of the U.S., although warmer-than-normal weather will prevail in coastal Texas, southern Florida, and New England. Hot weather will also dominate an area stretching from the Pacific Coast to the High Plains. Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation from the Mississippi Valley to the East Coast should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions in the northwestern and north-central U.S., as well as an area stretching from the Great Basin to the central and southern High Plains.
