Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed an executive order creating a carbon sequestration task force.
Iowa Renewable Fuels Association executive director Monte Shaw tells Brownfield biofuels could play a key role as members explore opportunities.
“As I understand it, the state is going to be looking for ways to remove any barriers to these types of projects, as well as looking for ways to position Iowa farmers and businesses to take advantage of opportunities in the carbon sequestration area.”
He sees opportunities for renewable fuels like corn ethanol and biodiesel, saying they have a real glidepath toward being a carbon-negative fuel.
