Michigan State University Extension educators located in central region of the state say frost and hail damage this week is likely to cause minimal damage to field crops.

Paul Gross says when it comes to hail damage, a little bit looks like a lot.

“You never want to damage any crop when it’s growing, but I think that the potential yield loss is going to be minimal,” he says.  “We did have some soybeans that did kind of get shredded but we’re kind of really early in the growing season.”

MSU Extension recommends waiting at least three days to assess true hail damage.
