The USDA is providing $10 Million dollars to support climate-smart ag and forestry practices through the voluntary EQIP program.

Jimmy Bramblett, the deputy chief for programs with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), tells Brownfield each state – including Arkansas, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin – has determined its own sign-up period and priorities…

“Local people giving priorities to the federal government as to what the payment rates should be, what the priorities for resource concerns that should be addressed are, and, which conservation practices should be used to address those resource concerns.”

Producrs will get one-on-one technical support and financial assistance through the EQIP a program to focus on climate change mitigation practices.
