The interaction between the Southwestern monsoon circulation and a cold front currently crossing the northern Plains will lead to significant rainfall, starting on Tuesday. The axis of heaviest rain should extend from Arizona into the Great Lakes region. Event-total rainfall could reach 1 to 2 inches or more in parts of the Four Corners States and at least 1 to 3 inches in numerous Midwestern locations. However, rain will largely bypass some northern crop production areas, including North Dakota.
