Farmers are optimistic about farmland values, according to the latest Ag Economy Barometer.

Jim Mintert is the director of the Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture.

“The index, both the short-term and the longer-term index, declined a little bit compared to what we saw last month,” he says. “But, both index readings were the third highest we had ever seen, so people are still pretty optimistic about where farmland is going.”

Farmer sentiment for the 12-month outlook of farmland values declined nine points and expectations for the five-year outlook fell three points.
