Direct cash cattle trade has been quiet through midday. Some clean up trade could happen this afternoon but it’s likely that most of the week’s business has already wrapped up. Asking prices for cattle left on showlists are around $120 plus in the South and $198 plus in the North.
At the Douglas County Livestock Auction in Ava, Missouri, compared to last week, feeder steers traded steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers traded steady. USDA says demand was good on moderate supply. Receipts were down on the week but up on the year. Feeder supply included 57 percent steers and 34 percent of the offering was over 600 pounds. Medium and Large 1 feeder steers 558 to 580 pounds brought $175.00 to $185.00 and feeder steers 620 to 647 pounds brought $155 to $170.
