Illinois corn and soybeans remain ahead of schedule despite cool, rainy weather last week.
According to the latest crop progress report from the USDA, corn condition is rated 65 percent good-to-excellent with 77 percent of the corn silking, 10 percent ahead of the five-year average.
Sixty-six percent of soybeans have bloomed compared to the five-year average of 56 percent with 20 percent setting pods. The crop is rated 60 percent good-to-excellent.
