Iowa farmers saw a mixed bag of weather last week.

The latest USDA crop report says there were more than four days suitable for fieldwork, with rain welcome in some areas but severe weather damaging crops in others.

Topsoil moisture ratings have improved to 67 percent adequate to surplus, with subsoil rated almost 50 percent adequate to surplus.  Northwest Iowa remains the driest part of the state.

Corn silking is 60 percent, one day ahead of the five-year average, with 68 percent in good to excellent condition.
