The executive director of the Swine Health Information Center says officials are still assessing the spread of African Swine Fever in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Paul Sundberg tells Brownfield the disease has been found in 11 of the country’s 32 provinces so far and finding its entry point is key.
“Because that will help inform us about possible open windows for it to enter into the U.S. or other countries,” he said.
Approximately 15,000 pigs have been euthanized to help stop the spread of the disease.
